VSL advances quantum chip development through the QORRELATIONS project
VSL is contributing to the advancement of next-generation quantum technologies as a partner in the QORRELATIONS project. This collaborative initiative brings together leading companies and research institutes from the Dutch quantum ecosystem to improve the testing, validation, and performance assessment of quantum chips.
Quantum computing has the potential to transform industries such as energy, healthcare, and materials science. However, the technology is still at an early stage of development. One of the key challenges is ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of quantum chips. Even minor imperfections can significantly impact system performance, making accurate and reliable measurement methods essential.

Reliable Measurements for Quantum Technology
Within the QORRELATIONS project, VSL provides its expertise in metrology to ensure that measurements are accurate, trustworthy, and traceable to international standards. Reliable measurements are fundamental to the successful development and industrialisation of quantum technologies.
As part of the project, VSL focuses on validating new measurement methods and testing approaches for quantum applications. Key activities include:
- Characterising and validating new cryogenic components used in quantum systems, such as RF switching hardware;
- Performing advanced measurements at extremely low temperatures, where quantum chips operate;
- Developing traceable measurement methods that enable reliable comparison of results across laboratories and organisations;
- Evaluating and benchmarking new hardware against existing solutions;
- Performing end-to-end system measurements, including uncertainty analysis.
Supporting the Industrialisation of Quantum Chips
By enabling consistent and independent measurements of quantum components, VSL helps accelerate the transition of quantum technologies from research to industrial-scale applications. These activities support the development of reliable manufacturing processes and contribute to the large-scale production of quantum chips.
Through its participation in the QORRELATIONS project, VSL strengthens its position as a trusted metrology partner for emerging technologies and supports the continued growth of the Dutch and European quantum innovation ecosystem.
“This project is co-financed by the European Union.”
