VSL publishes its Public Accountability Report 2025
Publication
Each year, VSL publishes its Public Accountability Report, commissioned by the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy.
2025 was a significant year for VSL.
The energy transition is driving the need for new standards for hydrogen. The nitrogen challenge is increasing the demand for more accurate ammonia measurements. The semiconductor industry requires ever-smaller measurement uncertainties. And our growing dependence on digital infrastructure calls for alternatives to satellite-based time sources. In all these areas, VSL has taken concrete steps this year, often in collaboration with Dutch and European partners.
In this report, we highlight five of these projects. Rather than providing the full technical accountability report, which is submitted in detail to the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy, this publication presents a selection of projects that clearly demonstrate how metrological research contributes to issues that affect us all, from the energy transition to a healthy living environment.
