VSL renews unique Declaration of Equivalence with NIST

VSL has renewed its Declaration of Equivalence with the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). As a result, VSL remains the only National Metrology Institute in the European Union holding this type of recognition.

The declaration confirms that primary reference gas mixtures produced by VSL and NIST are considered equivalent within defined measurement uncertainties. This provides companies and laboratories with confidence that their measurement results are internationally comparable and traceable, both in Europe and the United States.

International comparability of measurements is essential for sectors such as energy, environmental monitoring, industry and trade. The renewed agreement enables organisations operating on both continents to continue relying on measurement standards that are recognised worldwide.

The cooperation between VSL and NIST is built on years of international comparisons and continuous quality assurance activities. This renewal highlights the confidence in VSL’s expertise and reinforces its position as the National Metrology Institute of the Netherlands.
