Celebrating a Metrology Milestone: the 150 Anniversary of the Metre Convention
We’re proud to announce VSL has secured 13 new projects in the 2024 calls from the European Partnership on Metrology (EPM), and will coordinate 4 of them. This represents a remarkable 75% success rate for VSL’s proposals.
A healthy indoor environment can be achieved by controlling the sources and by eliminating or limiting the release of harmful substances into the air. One way is to use materials proven to be low emitting.
Brachytherapy is an effective treatment option for many types of cancer. A newer variant, electronic brachytherapy (eBT), is increasingly used – but without a formal and traceable method to determine radiation dose.
The aim of this project is to develop a SI-traceable calibration service to enable evaluation of photobiological safety of lamps and lamp systems, including LED based sources.
The main goals of the project are to propose new reference radiation qualities in combination with classification of different commercially available dosimeters and x-ray multimaters (XMMs) which will lead to harmonized calibration procedures for XMMs and to realize a traceability chain for relevant clinical parameters, e.g.: air kerma , practical peak voltage (PPV), current-time product (mAs), etc. An international comparison will be carried out for validation.
Standardisation of concentration measurements of extracellular vesicles for medical diagnoses (METVES II) Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are cell-derived particles present in body fluids, and EVs have excellent potential as next-generation biomarkers for early diagnosis of common diseases, such as cancer and thrombosis.
