For our Electricity and Time team we are looking for an enthusiastic:
Expert electrical measurements
In small and diverse teams of typically two to four people your job is to maintain, improve, and develop electrical measurement standards for, for example, power and energy measurements. You will be involved in setting up and performing electrical precision measurements for calibrations and as part of (international) research projects.

We ask for
- A degree (B.Sc. or M.Sc. ) in the field of electronics, energy technique or (applied) physics.
- Experience with performing measurements and research in a laboratory environment in a precise and safe way.
- Knowledge about electrical measurement techniques and practical electrotechnical experience.
- Fluency (written and oral) in English, and willingness to learn Dutch if you are not yet conversant in that language.
Besides these requirements we expect you to have an affinity for accurate measurements, to be pro-active, practically minded, communicative, and to work project-based within teams. You are also willing to look beyond the borders of your own field of expertise and have a good feeling for new developments in the outside world.
VSL is part of First Dutch Innovations and has about a hundred passionate employees. On behalf of the Dutch government we maintain and develop the national measurement standards. We make sure that these continue to be among the best in the world and internationally accepted. We provide calibrations, special projects, reference materials, interlaboratory comparisons and training modules. As the national metrology institute (NMI) we provide direct traceability to international measurement standards for industry, laboratories, and other companies. In this position we are an important link in the reliability, quality and innovative power of products and services by these third parties and Dutch society.
About your team
You will be employed in the Electricity team. This team offers elaborate measurement expertise to producers of measurement equipment, utilities, universities and (accredited) calibration laboratories. Besides that, we have several European R&D collaborations, for example in the field of smart electrical grids and power quality. Electrical measurements can be found everywhere, so you will be offered the opportunity to look at and be involved in many different applications.
