Training: The State of the Art in Traceable Cryogenic Flow Measurement

02/03/2022

Our flow measurement community is cordially invited to a training session on traceable cryogenic flow measurement on 16 February 13:30 – 17:30 CET. This session is a part of the 2011IND EMPIR project, “Metrology infrastructure for high-pressure gas and liquified hydrogen flows” (MetHyInfra).

Experts from several national metrology institutes will present the current state of the art in traceable cryogenic flow measurement. Furthermore, the most recent developments in this field coming from the MetHyInfra-project will be presented.

Training Program
During the training session on February 16th, 13:30 - 17:30 CET, the following presentations are scheduled:

  • VSL’s LNG calibration and test facility for flow and quality measurements (VSL)

This presentation describes the realisation of our LNG facility and the type of testing that can be done there. We’ll show unique measurement results of LNG flow meters, discuss the Calibration and Measurement Capability and share new insights into traceable measurement at LNG conditions.

  • Cryogenic Laser Doppler Velocimetry (LDV) flow measurements (CESAME)

CESAME will present on the cryogenic Laser Doppler Velocimetry flow meter and their development efforts to ensure reliable application to cryogenic conditions.

  • Coriolis flow meter uncertainty modelling for liquified hydrogen conditions (UL)

The University of Ljubljana will share insights in modelling Coriolis flow meters in liquified hydrogen conditions.

  • New insights on liquified hydrogen flow measurement uncertainty (VSL)

This presentation will provide insight into the uncertainty analysis for liquid hydrogen metering when the flow meter is calibrated with an alternative medium, such as water or liquefied natural gas.

Do note that the agenda is subject to change.

Visit the VSL LNG Calibration and Testing Facility
Additionally, you are invited to visit the VSL LNG calibration and testing facility, located in the port of Rotterdam, the Netherlands, on February 17th. Naturally, this is dependent on developments in COVID-19 restrictions. If restrictions do not permit a visit to the facility, we will seek alternatives.

Registration
Interested in attending the training and visiting the VSL facility? Please register here. Note that no confirmation email will be sent.
