VSL would like discuss with you the possibilities in this discipline in more depth. To this end, please contact Marijn van Veghel, tel. +31 15 269 1517 or e-mail mvveghel@vsl.nl.

Service provision
If you want to purchase, develop or arrange the development of advanced measuring equipment, you want to be able to rely on its reliability. VSL has extensive experience in developing measuring equipment and standards at the highest level, namely at the level of national standards. Based on this knowledge, we can assist in developing solutions for special measuring problems. We can also test the reliability of new and existing measuring systems through independent research and determine the actual measurement uncertainty.

Working method
VSL takes a project approach. We can be of service at every stage of the development of a measuring instrument:

  • In the ideas phase, we can assist in choosing a suitable measurement principle.
  • In the design phase, we can predict the feasible accuracy and we can give you technical advice on how it can be improved.
  • For existing instruments we can perform an independent validation by using our high-quality measuring equipment and standards. These are directly linked to the national standards. VSL's reports and certificates are internationally accepted and underpin the specifications of your instrument.
  • For the specific application of your instrument, we can analyse the uncertainty and map out the contribution of every source of uncertainty.

Customers
VSL's customers can be found in every sector that uses advanced measuring equipment. For instance:

  • Precision mechanical industry (precision measuring machines)
  • Healthcare (radiotherapy equipment)
  • Aviation and space travel (navigation satellites, inspection equipment for aircraft engines)
  • Oil and gas sector (distributed temperature measuring systems)

Courses
Annually, VSL produces more than 15 peer reviewed papers in the area of applied metrology, and many other publications. Much of the knowledge in these publications is included in the course material. The courses are given at VSL or on site.
