Your customers’ confidence in your calibration and test facilities is vital. Therefore VSL introduced the VSL CMC Certified program, which offers a cost efficient way to establish a quality mark for these facilities. It will support you to convince your customers that all needed resources are in place to perform good and accurate calibrations and product tests. After launching this program a considerable number of companies worldwide have decided to participate.

What Are The Benefits?
The VSL CMC Certified program will enable you to:
* serve a larger customer group, including even the most demanding
  customers,
* convince your customers that specific calibration and test facilities
have been independently and thoroughly checked by VSL and all needed
resources are in place to perform good and accurate calibrations and
  product tests.

What Does CMC Mean?
CMC means: Calibration and Measurement Capabilities.
In the context of the VSL CMC Certified program, which always relates to one or more specific facilities, CMC indicates the calibration and measurement capability, including best achievable measurement uncertainty, which is available to your customers under normal operating conditions.

Who Can Apply?
Basically any company can apply to obtain the VSL CMC Certified status for one or more of her facilities. It is a program undertaken voluntarily by a company for her own benefit. The VSL CMC Certified program is applicable to any test or calibration facility that wishes to have her facilities certified independently by VSL.

What Does VSL CMC Certified Guarantee?

The VSL CMC Certified status guarantees that at the time of evaluation, the CMC of the specific certified facility as stated in the scope is valid and can be maintained if procedures are followed. Of course the calibration carried out on the facility is always the responsibility of the owner.
The period of validity is two years.

What is the Scope of the Program?
The scope of work of the program relates to the calibration or test facility itself. Highly specialized VSL metrologists perform a rigorous review of the installation as a whole, the main components and technical performance. Tests are carried out to prove that the CMC uncertainty corresponds with the calculated values. A witness of the operations around the calibration test facility is also included. An audit of the company and its management systems, such as during an ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation process, are not part of the scope of work.

How Can I Show the VSL CMC Certified Status to My Customers?

Companies owning facilities with VSL CMC Certified status show the dedicated logo on the certificates they issue. Additionally, they show the large size "wall certificate" in their offices and publish their VSL CMC Certified status on their own website as well as on VSL’s website. A list of calibration and test facilities of companies with a CMC certification can be found here.
