VSL is the national metrology institute of The Netherlands. TNO Companies is the shareholder. VSL is a private company with a public task.

In the following three departments, 85 people are working for VSL:

-Calibration and Reference materials

-Customized Applied Metrology

-Research and Development

VSL is located at Technopolis, a new business area in Delft. A growing number of highly technological, knowledge intensive firms is located here also.
